Application
- Every Year in the month of May, advertisement is made for fresh admission into different courses. Admission forms are available in the Institute office from 15th may every year .
- Applications should be in the prescribed forms for admission to the course.
- Prescribed application forms and prospectus are made available in the office of the Institute on payment of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred) only. Those who want to get the forms and prospectus by mail, must remit an amount of Rs. 140/- (Rupees one hundred forty) only by Money Order to the Principal. The Money Order coupon should be the full address of the candidate.
Documents
Attested typed/photo copies of the following documents and certificates are to be submitted along with the application.
- Certificates and mark sheets of Higher Secondary or other examinations.
- SC/ST candidates for candidates should give attested/photo copy of Caste Certificate issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of a Tahasildar or as prescribed by Government of Odisha from time to time.
- Residence Certificate for candidates belonging to outlying Oriya speaking tracks, but living permanently in Odisha.
- Certificate regarding social service, community work experience and/or co-curricular activities signed by concerned competent authorities.

The process of selection for admission to the course will consist of the following:

Discussion with Parents/Guardians
In order to ensure effective monitoring of the study course and encourage the induction of the right attitude to social work culture to the family environment and help build up social work career of the candidates, the cooperation and support of parents is of great relevance. Their perceptions and interest in the course thus will be a valuable contribution. Before the final selection, therefore, the expectation of the parents/guardians from the course will be suitably solicited through a discussion with when the candidates will also be present.
Intimation of Admission
The list of candidates so finally selected will be put on the Notice Board of the Institute three full days after the tests/interviews.
Undertaking by the Selected Candidate and Parent/Guardian
Every parent and candidate will be required to give an undertaking in the prescribed format in the application to the effect that the student would abide by all the rules and regulations of the institute and the same will have to be guaranteed by the parent/guardian. Violation of any rule or regulation would automatically result in the removal of the student from the institution.
Production of Original Documents
Candidate should produce the following documents in original for verification and acceptance of the selected candidates:
- All certificates and mark-sheets up to last qualifying examination passed and conduct certificate.
- Four passport size photographs and a photo Block.
- College-leaving certificate (to be retained in the office of the Institute).
For admission in M.A. in Social Work (MSW), prescribed application forms and prospectus will be made available in the office on payment of Rs. 150/- only. Those who wish to get the forms and prospectus by mail, will be required to remit an amount of Rs. 190/- only by Money Order to the Principal of the Institute.
Eligibility Criteria for b.a In social work
The candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (+2) examinations of Government of Odisha or HSE of the Central Board or any other state Government or equivalent examination approved by the Utkal University are eligible for admission to the course.
Admission is open to aspiring candidates both male and female from India and abroad. Seats for the Scheduled Castes/Tribes and the Physically Handicapped are reserved as per existing rules.
Academic record, co-curricular activities and social service, community work experience, if any, are the criteria of selection to this course, for which merit list will be prepared. The list of candidates short listed for admission will be prepared in order of merit, and according to marks obtained in the various tests.
Eligibility Criteria for m.a In social work
i) Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Arts, Science or Commerce of a recognised University, with 50% marks in the aggregate, (45% for SC/ST) are eligible to apply for admission. Reservation of seats will be made for SC/ST and candidates of other special categories as per Rules.
ii) Academic record, performance in entrance tests, nature of co-curricular activities, social service or practical field experience in action situations, if any, will form the basis for selection of candidates for admission to the course. Those sponsored by welfare organizations will be preferred.
Eligibility Criteria for m.a In social communication
i) Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Arts, Science or Commerce of a recognised University, with 50% marks in the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) are eligible to apply for admission. Reservation of seats will be made for SC/ST and physically challenged candidates as per Rules.
ii) Academic record, performance in entrance tests, nature of co-curricular activities, social service or practical field experience in action situations, if any, will form the basis for selection of candidates for admission to the course. Those sponsored by welfare organisations or media may be given preference, other things being equal.
Eligibility Criteria for m.a In rural Management
i) Any graduate from a recognised University can apply. Reservation of seats will be made for SC/ST and physically challenged candidates as per rules. Those who are in the final year and expect to compete all the requirements of graduation by the beginning of the selection process in the present course can also apply.
ii) Academic record, performance in personal interviews, nature of social service or practical field experience shall form the basis for selection of candidates for admission to the course.
iii) The Institute would welcome employees of NGOs, engaged in rural development and those associated with Gandhian Institutions, as sponsored candidates who should hold a Graduate Degree in any stream-Science, Arts, Commerce, Management.
Eligibility Criteria for master in women studies
i) Any graduate from a recognised University can apply. Reservation of seats will be made for SC/ST and physically challenged candidates as per rules. Those who are in the final year and expect to compete all the requirements of graduation by the beginning of the selection process in the present course can also apply.
ii) Academic record, performance in personal interviews, nature of social service or practical field experience shall form the basis for selection of candidates for admission to the course.
iii) The Institute would welcome employees of NGOs, engaged in rural development and sponsored candidates who should hold a Graduate Degree in any stream-Science, Arts, Commerce, Management.
